Mustangs fall to Varsity Blues, trail 1-0 in series

Western’s starting line up jumped on the Blues quickly, setting the pace of the game in their favour. The first period flew by without many stoppages and lots of opportunities for each team, but it was scoreless after the first, with Western out shooting the visitors 18-7.

Western’s Robert Polesello received a tripping penalty after chasing down a Blues forward to stop a chance just one minute into the second. The Blues made the best of the situation and scored seconds into the penalty. U of T then received a penalty seconds later and Mustang Alex Micallef took advantage of the extra man and returned the favour by tying the game 1-1.
